June is an awareness month of many different things and we hope we can touch on subjects that are helpful to those who read this
1. Summer Safety
Do not drink and drive- incudes any equipment, water craft, and land toys that are drivable.
Please wear your sunscreen - sunburns can become a medical emergency if not taken care of properly. If experiencing pain, swelling, headache, fatigue, nausea, or vomiting, please seek attention at your local emergency room
Swimming, boating, river rafting- wear your life vest and look out for others who are not experienced swimmers
Be on the look out for Snakes when hiking- they hide under rocks, in trees, in the water, and in some instances out in the open camouflaged
2. Heart & Stroke
Stroke signs to look for: Symptoms of stroke include trouble walking, speaking, and understanding, as well as paralysis or numbness of the face, arm, or leg
Heart attack signs to look for: Symptoms include tightness or pain in the chest, neck, back, or arms, as well as fatigue, and lightheadedness
3. Alzheimer's and Brain health
Cognitive: altered level of consciousness, amnesia, inability to speak or understand language, lack of concentration, mental confusion, or slowness in activity
Muscular: problems with coordination,
There is no cure for Alzheimer's. However, there are studies being done to help improve the deceleration of the disease in individuals

Health Insurance Tips

Tip #1
If you are with an employer and you lose your health coverage, you are still covered until the last day of the month the coverage was cancelled to use it.
Tip #2
If you lose your health coverage you have 60 days from the last day of coverage to obtain new health coverage. Whether you apply straight to a company, Covered California, or Medi-Cal. However, Medi-Cal can be applied for year round.
Tip #3
Apply as soon as you know you will lose your health coverage for new credible coverage to avoid a gap in coverage.
Medicare Updates
Medicare 2025
Starting January 1, 2025 these changes will be effective for all recipients of Medicare.
Medicare rates for Part B will increase to $185 mo for Medicare recipients who are single and make less than $105,000 yr or couples who make less than $210,000 yr.
Medicare Part D will have a calendar year max out of pocket of $2000. This update includes the elimination of the coverage gap phase to effect a three-phase benefit (deductible, initial coverage, and catastrophic). The no cost sharing for enrollees in the catastrophic phase, the $35 month supply cap on enrollee cost sharing for each covered insulin product, and no cost-sharing for adult vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices that are covered under Part D will still remain for 2025.
For Medicare Advantage (MA) recipients; There is the 2025 rate increase at 3.70%.
